We study a few problems related to Markov processes of flipping triangulations of the sphere. We show that these processes are ergodic and mixing, but find a natural example which does not satisfy detailed balance. In this example, the expected distribution of the degrees of the nodes seems to follow the power law d −4 .

We determine the topological susceptibility in the SU(3) pure gauge theory. We perform a series of high-statistics lattice studies and take the combined continuum and infinite volume limit. We find χtopr 4 0 = 0.0524(7)(6), which translates into χ 1/4 top = 193(1)(8)MeV with the second error exclusively due to the intrinsic scale ambiguity.
